If you're here, stick to their seafood menu as the regular Mexican dishes are not that great. Probably because most everyone else orders seafood.

As the previous reviewer posted - desert, seafood restaurant, not a very inviting combination. But my wife and I went for lunch, and the soups were good. We shall return - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of seafood. Not quite the quaity of a McCormick and Schmicks, but better than I would expect at a Red Lobster. Service was good, prices fair. I definately recommend!

I go to Delicia's frequently. My favorite dish is Huevos Delicias, which is basically a quesadilla with an egg on top, smothered with cerrano jalapeno sauce. It is definitely one of my favorite dishes of all time. My wife is a big fan of the fish soup and fish tacos.

We were in Las Cruces to drop our son off at NM State and literally fell into this restaurant. It's going through a remodel and so first impressions are not good, but the parking lot was full so we felt that was a very good sign. Luz was our server and she was extremely polite and attentive. The beef soup was excellent along with all of our meals. Very large portions which none of us could finish. We will definitely go back the next time we are in town.

On our recent visit for lunch, my wife had the shrimp tacos and I had the Pulpo de las Brasa, both of which were cooked and seasoned well and included some great grilled onion and mashed potatoes. On top of that, the fish soup that came with the meals was delicious! The corn mixed with mayo(?) was probably the least appetizing thing we ate, but it was still decent. Our waitress was friendly and brought our food out quickly. While their prices are a bit high by LC standards, we still left satisfied and full.

Went here with 4 people and everyone left hungry. My plate had 7 shrimp on it and was over $13, super disappointing. They also didn't have vinaigrette salad dressing. The soup that came with the meal had two small pieces of fish and two small pieces of vegetable, was 90% liquid.

Well I got to say the restaurant inside had the feeling of being near a ocean and our waitress was very nice and attentive. So on to the food. So they brought us our chips and salsa and some corn stuff. Being from a family that takes pride in their salsas it was below our standards. Too much tomato and not enough chile. Had a good flavor but just needed to be hotter. The corn that came with it seemed like corn and mayo mixed together but it was ok. We ordered shrimp cocktails but I have to say was the worst thing I ever had. For one it was sweet and had no other flavor. The shrimp in it seems a little spoiled or something. It wasn't even the white and pinkish orange strip colors shrimp is supposed to be it was more like greyish. The entrées we ordered hmmm ok my father ordered the fish tacos. He could tell the fish was frozen! My husband and mother ordered the shrimp al mojo de ajo which is cooked in garlic. The shrimp was actually good but that was the only thing on the plate that was. I ordered the fiesta shrimp which is wrapped in bacon and supposedly stuffed with cheese. No hint of cheese but still pretty tasty. But like the other plates nothing else was good. The mash potatoes that were on our plates were instant and salty and also hard around the edges. The white rice was mushy and sticky. I gotta admit I use instant rice but my rice always comes out perfect and flaky and not like that mess. And the salad on the side was wilted and not worth it. For the price we paid on the food it definitely wasn't worth it. More than half of it was left behind! I won't go back there again! There's a lot of places in Las Cruces too good to miss to eat at this place! So the 1 star I give to this place is for 6 shrimp on our plates that we're actually good!

We decided to go to Delicias del Mar after a matinee in the theater. I had one of the fish filet dinners. The topping of onions, garlic, mushrooms, and peppers was very good. My wife had the fish tacos which can be described as having too little fish and too much breading. The side of mashed potatoes and rice were okay, but both were starches. The small bowl of fish soup as the starter was very good. We might return if hungry for a fish dish.

One of the best restaurants ever for my 67 years. Tonight there was a mariachi band to add to the evening's pleasure. Moderate prices and creative menu. Try the corn and chili pepper dip!

Thought I had a good dinner here, ordered the shrimp dish and ate 2 of 6 oysters. Was happy with the flavorings and the complimentary soup but something about the taste of the shrimp was a little off. Low and behold, middle of the night I woke up and threw up until my stomach was empty---I feel lucky that's all that happened and although I see all the great reviews--I would not eat there again. My dining partner did not eat the shrimp and did not get sick. ending this review now as thinking about it makes me feel queasy. Staff were all very friendly. If not for the food poisoning I would rate 3.5 or 4 stars.

I was warned to stay away from seafood restaurants in the desert with the obvious concern of freshness with the exception of the five star joints in Vegas, of course. Well, Delicias del Mar has proved me wrong! I found this place 4 days before moving from Las Cruces and guess how many times I went there before leaving....yup...4 times! I can't even describe how flavorful their food is. One of the dishes I ordered was the fried fish plate. It wasn't much to look at. It appeared to be plain rice, with plain mashed potatoes and a fish that looked....well...plain. We'll looks are deceiving as far as this plate goes. It was the perfect blend of buttery rice, creamy potatoes and fish fried up just right. We also enjoyed the fish tacos, the carnitas which still have me salivating, and a few other shrimp dishes. Their soup is just awesome. Excellent and surprisingly super-speedy service (our entrees were served an at average of 7 minutes after ordering). Clean location with a refreshing vacation-on-the-beach ambiance. I'll miss this place.

Delicias del Mar is my favorite lunch spot in Las Cruces. I am always hunting for great diet food with local flair. My favorite low calorie/high protein/low carb items on their menu includes shrimp cocktail (the best in Las Cruces! Sometime I just get this for lunch!), grilled fish tacos, shrimp soup, and fish soup. If you are dieting and order the soup, be sure to tell them no bread--once you see the bread (thick Texas toast with lots of buttter) you won't be able to control yourself not to eat it! I think the soups make a perfect lunch. They have excllent service. There are always plenty of frinedly wait staff. The food comes out fast and it is always fresh. Delicias spoils you with little extras like corn and Mexican cream (not low calorie but boy is it good) salsa. Regular lunch and dinner plates come with fish soup, rice, mashed potatoes, so be careful what you order if you are watching your weight. I doubt anyone can leave this place still hungry. They serve beer. What more could you ask for? Great Spot!

Went in for dinner, after reading comments on yelp. What a little gem! My husband ordered the fish, grilled, and I ordered the Chili Relleno platter. Wow, the soup was included with both orders, and was excellent! Generous portions. Both dishes were prepared to perfection, and we will make sure to stop in again on the way back to California. Great food, very authentic, you could picture yourself sitting in a little restaurant somewhere in Mexico, on the coast.....prices were very reasonable, service was excellent!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
